For the first pace, UM ADV cruiser adventure bike spotted in India. Launch expected in initial 2019.

The UM motorcycles entered the Indian market at the 2016 Auto Expo. The American based manufactured introduced itself to India with two cruiser motorcycles. Currently, UM Motorcycles offers the Renegade Sport S and Renegade Commando.

UM, Motorcycles hint to be readying an all-new adventure tourer and a cruiser bike as the two have been spied in India short while ago. The two motorcycles have reportedly been clicked at the company’s dealer meeting and the company must be aiming for a competitive price point for the two. The American based manufactured will equipped both DSR Adventure and DSR Adventure TT with a bigger engine, something round between 200cc to a 600cc engine.

Speaking of the first motorcycle, the adventure tourer looks like the UM DSR Adventure that is presently depleted in the international markets with a 125cc engine. With regard to, we believe that the company will launch the bike with a sizable capacity motor that will procreate more feel considering the price-sensitive nature of the Indian two-wheeler market.

The bike can peek up with sharp headlamp up front with a beak like the styling. The motorcycle will roll on with inverted forks up front along with a rear monoshock. Also, the UM DSR Adventure will get dual purpose tyres to whip touring and off-roading equally convenient.

Preview:

The UM DSR adventure looks like a proper adventure tour bike with a large windshield, flat rare rack, long travel suspension and large spoke wheels with on-off road tires.

It gets quite a few off-road bike oriented bits like rubber fork.

Design and Looks:

The looks and design of this motorcycle scream ‘American cruiser’. There’s even a US flag glued on the top of the tail-lamp which shows it is an American originated.

The round headlamp topped off by a windshield and also surrounded by a gleaming casing that reads ‘Commando’ gives it a looming presence from the front. The front inverted suspension forks also get a lot of glints, with the wheel protected by a wide, extending-on-the-sides cruiser style mudguard.

Performance:

The UM DSR adventure bike will be powered with a 196cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that give up to 16bhp at 8500 rpm and 16 Nm of peak torque at 6500 rpm. The engine is mated with a 6-speed gearbox. The DSR Adventure will be the same as the typical ADV-style look from front break, dual-purpose tire, long level suspension, as well as the starting engine.

The bike will have 17-inch wheels shod with dual-sport rubber, and with disc brakes on both wheels, and a standard single-channel ABS.

It sums up with total 179 kgs with 90% of fuel capacity and balance is easily made during sudden braking while the rider feels safe and confident about control. The suspension is on the firm side and this may not be the best option for the cruiser riding position.

Price:

The bike will be available in 3 colors in India, The UM DSR adventure motorcycle will approximately cost up to Rs 1.8 to 1.9 Lakh in the exclusive showrooms. The only competition is from the Royal Enfield Himalayan that retails for Rs 1.7 Lakh for the ABS equipped model.

The company has not declared anything at all with respect to the launch of these new bikes in India. However, we postulate that the two aforementioned models will hit down in the market in early 2019. UM, Motorcycles must be addressed at a competitive price point as that is one of the most momentous ways how it can make a mark in the market.

Seeing the fact that the existing UM atonement is not doing well in terms of sales, what remains to be seen if these two will do the much-needed magic for the company.
