Which one to Buy? KTM RC 125 vs Yamaha R15 V3

After months of teasing the bike, KTM has finally launched the RC 125 in India, which competes directly with that of the Yamaha R15 V3.0. Both the faired sports bike is the two most feature-rich bikes in this segment and offers a lot at this price. Both these are faired sports bikes and now let’s compare them now in terms of features, engine, and other technical features to determine the winner. However, the KTM RC15 is a 125cc motorcycle compared to the Yamaha YZF R15 which is in the 150cc category.

Engine:

The KTM RC125 uses a 124.7cc, single-cylinder, 4-valve, DOHC, liquid-cooled, 14.5HP, 950rpm, 12 Nm torque injection engine @ 8,000 rpm, coupled with a 6-speed gearbox transmission. If we talk about Yamaha R15 V3.

The Yamaha R15 is powered by a liquid-cooled 4-stroke, SOHC, 150cc single-cylinder engine. This engine makes 19.3PS at 10 000 rpm and 14.7 Nm at 8500 rpm for a 6-speed gearbox. It’s clear that Yamaha just offers more displacement, more power, and more torque.

Styling:

Ktm RC 125 design is inspired by the KTM RC16 Moto GP race bike while it follows the distinct KTM color scheme of orange and white. It gets a triple clamp handlebar along with, two DRL headlamps with DRLs, low set clip on handlebars, a digital instrument console. The super sports bike features a bottom exhaust system and a new black and orange shade that will catch the attention of customers.

Yamaha r15 v3 too features a sharp looking front fairing with full LED headlamps. The fuel tank design is inspired by the larger R1. Performance:

Both motorcycles are handled by a disc brake at the front and rear. The RC 125 is equipped with a single-channel ABS system for rider safety. The R15 V3.0, on the other hand, features dual-channel ABS as standard over the competition, which is a win for Yamaha.

KTM RC 125 is positioned on a steel open framework. The design is inspired by the KTM RC16 MotoGP motorbike while following the KTM orange and white color scheme. This gets a triple clamp handlebar along with twin projector lights with DRL. On that note, Yamaha R15 V3 is positioned on the delta chassis and gets sharp features. It sports a full front fairing, LED headlights; clip on the handlebars.

Ktm RC 125 measures 1,977mm in length, has a seat height of 835 mm and a ground clearance of 157 mm. It carries 9.5-liter fuel tank while dry weight is @ 154.2 kgs. On the other hand, Yamaha R15 is longer than the KTM RC15 standing 2,060mm in length. The Yamaha R15 is longer than the KTM RC15, with a length of around 2060 mm. It also has a higher ground clearance of 170 mm although kerb weight is lower at 142 kgs along with seat height which is at 815mm.
