Harley-Davidson’s most exclusive offering – A 338cc motorcycle
A few months ago, Harley-Davidson posted about its intention to make their motorcycle the most affordable with South Asian companies. Now, the company finally revealed its big alliance with Qianjang Motorcycle, a Chinese company. Harley-Davidson’s most exclusive offering will be a 338cc motorcycle that will be developed and produced in China and exported to a number of markets around the world. The two companies plan to jointly develop a high-quality 338 cc displacement Harley-Davidson motorcycle for sale in China and other Asian markets to follow. This partnership could be a game-changer for American majors.

Harley-Davidson said they chose Qianjiang as a partner because the company has extensive experience in developing premium small-capacity motorcycles, supply bases, and knowledge of emerging markets. Qianjiang is part of the Geely company family that owns Volvo. In fact, that also makes the Benelli motorbike.
Engine:
The engine, as seen in the sketch shared by the brand, uses a parallel-twin format and looks almost identical to the unit on the TNT 300. The new bike will have a 338cc motorbike, which will make it the smallest engine that Harley will have in its portfolio in decades. We believe that the Chinese Motorcycle Company can revise existing motors from TNT 300 with revised bores or longer strokes to achieve a relatively higher displacement.
Styling:
Along with the announcement of a new partnership, Harley-Davidson also released a motorcycle sketch. It seems like the philosophy of a typical Harley-Davidson cruiser, and the upcoming 338cc looks more like a modern naked road fighter.
Features:
Motorbikes will sit in a trellis frame and are expected to get premium bits like all LED headlamps, fully digital instrument clusters, and ABS disc brakes equipped at both ends and more. In addition, you can also see an inverted fork on the front along with a rear Mono shock. Motorbikes are expected to come with a trimmed exhaust set that should sound aggressive. However, the features of the production model can vary.
Price:
This unnamed new motorcycle will be first launched in China by the end of 2020. We hope this motorbike will debut in India in early 2021 and can be assembled at the company’s Haryana facility. We expect a one-cylinder Harley to be priced between Rs 2.25 lakh and 2.5 lakh, while a two-cylinder Harley may sell for around Rs 3 lakh to 3.5 lakh (ex-showroom).
If Harley had found an Indian partner, we would have been one of the first markets in the world to get the low-cost, low-capacity Harley. Unfortunately, the honor now goes to China.
