The price is the first main difference between the Harley and the Indian Chief. The Harley costs about Rs 15.25 lakhs, while the Chief costs about Rs 20.20 lakhs.
The Harley has both an oil and air-cooled engine, a 1746cc Milwaukee Eight 107 Engine, weighing about 297 kgs, while the Chief only has an air-cooled 1811 V twin engine and weighing about 308 kgs.
The Chief has a torque of 150 Nm @ 2900 rpm while the Harley pumps out 144 Nm @ 3,250 rpm. Both the tourers feature a 6-speed transmission.
The Harley, however, has a better seat height which makes it more comfortable, but the fuel tank size of the Chief (20.8 litres) is more compared to the 13.2 litres of the Softail
The Harley’s suspension and braking system, which features a Showa dual bending valve in the front and dual shock in the back, is much better than the Chief’s Front end and dual shocks in the rear. They both are custom-ready tourers aiming for the same audience.
The Softail is priced at Rs. 15.25 Lakhs while the Sportster at Rs. 16.53 Lakhs. The Softail has a 1746 cc oil/air-cooled engine, while the Sportster only has a 1252 cc liquid-cooled engine.
While most riders prefer the Sportster, it has fewer digital features and does not perform as well as the Softail in all things considered including its digital systems to its seat height and design. The Softail has a cleaner and smoother ride performance compared to the dominating presence of the Sportster.
The Softail has the classic old school compared to the Sportster; the Softail also has better customisable options and is more suitable for longer rides.
The Softail has a power of 85hp @ 5,020 rpm and a torque of 144 Nm @ 3,250 rpm, while the Sportster has a power of 120.69 bhp@7500rpm and a torque of 125 Nm @ 6000 rpm.
The Fuel capacity of the Softail is higher than the Sportster, with 13.2 litres compared to the 11.8 litres of the Sportster.
The Softail has priced at Rs. 15.25 Lakhs while the Street Bob is priced at about Rs.16.1 lakhs. The Softail has a 1746cc engine, while the Bob has a 1868cc engine.
Both have similar emission standards, cooling systems, clutch and transmission. The front and rear suspensions are also the same for both motorcycles, with many similarities.
The Softail has a torque of 144 Nm @ 3,250 rpm; meanwhile, the Street Bob has a torque of 155 Nm @ 5020 rpm.
However, the Softail is a little behind in technology, while the Street Bob has many more features. However, the Softail has a smoother ride and comfortable delivery of torque.
Both have great features, but the Softail’s styling is commendable with its old-school look and gives off the image of the perfect Harley. The Street Bob is on the costlier side, with minimal additions to the features.
