Latest on Jawa Perak

  • By releasing numerous models in 2022, Jawa Motorcycles, owned by Classic Legends, hopes to solidify its position in the Indian market.
  • All Jawa models got a price hike of up to Rs 8,7000. So, Jawa Perak now touches the 2 lakh mark.
  • Jawa Perak is a success for the company and is the company’s third model to hit the Indian market.

Introduction of Jawa Perak

The Perak is the third motorcycle produced by the revived Jawa marque for the Indian market. The Jawa Perak looks the part, has a 334 cc engine, and is the most reasonably priced bobber-style motorbike to get in India.

When the company reestablished itself in India, the Jawa Perak and the Jawa and Forty were initially displayed in prototype form and astounded everyone. Since then, motorcycle lovers have highly anticipated the debut of this motorcycle by Jawa.

The most recent spy image depicts a bike with a big windscreen, conventional mirrors, and a pillion backrest.

Jawa Perak is the country’s first bobber-style motorcycle in this price range, and it’s a rather exciting proposition that merits more significant consideration.

What's new in the Jawa Perak

Under the agreement between Ceat Tyres and Jawa Motorcycles, the Jawa Perak get the Ceat Zoom Cruz tyre employing a 100/90 R18 unit at the front and a 140/70 R17 rubber at the rear.

As a result of Jawa’s work on the engine and the BS-VI update, the engine now not only complies with tighter emission standards but also produces nearly 2 Nm more torque than before.

Other improvements to the Jawa Perak include a new chassis and swingarm, which, according to Jawa, have had their stiffness levels tweaked for better straight-line stability and planted handling.

Highlights of Jawa Perak

Design of Jawa Perak

The new Jawa Perak maintains the bobber design with its low-slung and floating single seat, an integrated taillight, teardrop fuel tank, and low-set and broad handlebar without a pillion seat.

With its bullet shell-shaped headlight, long forks, and 1485 mm wheelbase, the design is unmistakably Jawa. The bike’s engine and spoked wheels get covered in a menacing blacked-out paint job.

The Perak is a stunning motorbike since it is a factory-custom bobber. It has a matte black-grey paint job that adheres to a blacked-out motif, and most of its mechanical components are black.

Gold pinstriping highlights the design on the fuel tank, side panels, and fenders. The floating seat design with a tan-brown leather seat that gives the Perak the traditional bobber stance is the second major selling point of the vehicle.

The Jawa Perak motorbike distinguishes out because of its side profile, and the single-piece seat and the long extended swingarm further enhance the motorcycle’s distinctiveness. Similar to other earlier models, the gasoline tank has a teardrop-shaped form.

Colours and variants of Jawa Perak

Jawa Perak comes in one colour:

  • Black

Jawa Perak offers one variant:

  • Jawa Perak STD

Features of the Jawa Perak

The Perak gets outfitted with standard halogen lamps everywhere, but the tail lamp is an LED. The instrument cluster is a circular piece that features an odometer with a small digital display taken from the Jawa Standard.

The motorcycle has monoshock mounts underneath the seat for the back and telescopic forks up front. At both ends, dual-channel ABS reinforced disc brakes perform braking functions.

The Jawa Perak features simple styling and design components, and it does, however, provide several essential features and accessories. It comprises a single-sided extended aluminium swingarm and a single-pod instrument cluster on top of the headlamp housing.

With a seat height of 750mm, the Jawa Perak is a bit high for anybody under 5 feet 8 inches tall. Once seated, you will need to squat a little to reach the handlebars because the rider’s triangle is powerful but not as harsh as the older model.

Engine of the Jawa Perak

The larger engine is the main distinction between the Jawa Perak and other JAWA bikes. A single-cylinder, 334 cc DOHC engine with liquid cooling and a maximum output of 30.22 PS @ 6100rpm and 32.74 Nm @ 4000rpm powers the motorcycle.

The engine uses the same 293 cc mill as the Jawa and the Jawa 42 but has been bored out to produce more power. The motor is the first Jawa to meet the upcoming emission standards because it has a 6-speed gearbox and is BS6 certified.

Suspension and brakes of the Jawa Perak

Telescopic forks handle the front suspension, and in place of the dual shocks found on earlier JAWA motorcycles, the monoshock unit manages the rear suspension.

The swing arm-mounted mono-shock with preload adjustment is still in the back. The front and rear suspension parts got significantly modified to match the new chassis’ dynamics.

For stopping power, double disc brakes with dual-channel ABS are standard. Additionally, the swingarm is longer than it was on earlier Jawa motorcycles.

Expert Reviews

  • The matt black colour scheme and the gold pinstriping on the bike contrast well with the tan colour of the seat, which is bolted to the main frame by a tough-looking sheet of metal

  • The riding quality of the Perak can also be extremely harsh. The decreased suspension travel at both ends gives it that low-slung appearance, but with only 86mm of rear tyre travel provided by that elegantly recessed rear shock, bumpy roads will take a toll on your back.

  • The rear end seems floppy and detached when driving hard, so it’s good that the lean angle is constrained. The brakes are identical to those on the smaller Jawas, and while having a dull feel, they effectively slow down the bike.

  • The Perak is a motorcycle best enjoyed over shorter distances, but its larger engine can handle higher speeds if you can handle the rough ride.

Conclusion

In the Indian market, the Jawa Perak stands apart from all other motorcycles. The Perak in bobber form adds a sense of originality to the category in India and undoubtedly draws attention to Indian roadways.

Despite the practical compromises that have resulted, it is daring (and laudable) of the company to have adopted such an uncompromising approach to style.

It is strictly a single-seater, and the huge side panels only have enough room to accommodate a small tool roll and some documents. Although twin channel ABS is standard, the Perak doesn’t exactly have a tonne of features. Other than that, things are very basic.

Another way to look at the Perak is as a cool custom motorbike that will draw attention but has also undergone rigorous factory testing and has been appropriately homologated for usage on public roads.
