Kawasaki finally launched its neo-retro W800 Street in India!
Introduced for the first time in 1965, the iconic W is back and reborn in the all-new W800 2019. All the impulses of the original resonate in the beating of the Vertical Twin engine producing a mass of torque, the strident roar of exhausts manufactured double and the characteristic maneuverability that stems from a robust frame with large diameter wheels. Turn heads and earn the respect of other cyclists and pedestrians aboard this classically stunning classic.
This is the second retro bike in the Kawasaki lineup in India after the Z900RS. However, both bike that offers a quite different riding experience altogether. Bookings have already begun and buyers can book through the company’s official website or by visiting an authorized dealer.
The bike will be sold in limited quantities, while deliveries will begin as of August 2019.

The engine is a 773cc air-cooled parallel-twin air-cooled unit that is housed in a twin-down pipe twin base chassis and emits 48PS at 6,000 rpm and 62.8Nm at 4,800 rpm. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed gearbox equipped with a slipper clutch.

Speaking of riding comfort, the motorcycle has an upright posture, while the design language is quite traditional. The high configuration of the handlebar setup makes the motorcycle extremely impressive styling along with the twin-pod instrument cluster and the LCD display. The bike has a single seat along with a comfortable driver’s height for greater accessibility. The exhaust is finished in chrome from the headings to the endpoint.
The bike has simple underpinnings in the form of a double-cradle frame, a 41mm conventional telescopic fork, and dual shock absorbers. Along with that, the bike has 18-inch aluminum wheels with spokes and rear-tube type tires. It has an LED headlight, a twin-pod instrument console with a digital inset. In terms of safety features, it has dual-channel ABS, but other than that, the W800 has no electronic rider aids. The braking units include discs at both ends with a 320mm rotor at the front and a 270mm rotor.
Kawasaki has launched W800 Street at Rs 7.99 lakh. However, the high price is due to the fact that W800 Street was imported from Japan as SKD unit. Getting the bikes directly from Japan attracts higher transportation costs, hence the high price.
The new W800 STREET will be presented in a color: Metallic Black / Matte Black / Metallic Graphite Gray.
