The news for KTM 390 Adventure that rolled out in 2018 really shocked us all and the excitement level was beyond anyone’s control. Especially the KTM fans out there who were simply waiting for the launch of a brand new adventure bike. Our hopes were down when the bike was not showcased in the 2018 EICMA show in Milan. Slowly we all lost the sight of the updates we were receiving of the bikes & also expectations that we made with this one were in vain. As soon as we were forgetting the existence and never imagined the bike to be in spied throughout 2019, Things really turned differently. The spy images emerged on the internet, which showed the All-New bike testing in India.
The bike that was spotted doesn’t really look far from its production. It is possible that the company is planning to launch this adventure bike in India this year end. Considering its visual appearance, the bike looks quite similar to the prototype that was spied for the first time in Europe. This has to be a really great move made by the Austrian manufacturer as there is a great demand for middleweight motorcycle, especially in India. Everything is fitting well in the space, back to the past, it was spotted in Europe for the very first time and then later, a much-refined bike was spotted testing, and this clearly explains the production is soon to be seen.
Certainly talking about the engine, it is much likely to be similar with the one we’ve experienced on the Duke 390. It gets a 373.2cc motor that makes 44hp of power at 9000 rpm and 37NM at 7000 rpm of peak torque. Well, what we can expect here with the new bike is the engine to be much-refined one that gives better performance. What does look completely different is the exhaust system! Exhaust seems to be larger than the one that you see in Duke Version. With this we can consider it to comply with the BS VI emission norms (maybe, maybe not).
Well if the question is what we expect from the bike, the list will go on and we’d build a huge castle in the air. But when it comes to thinking practically, we’d not see much difference and it will stick to the standard KTM adventure bikes that are currently been offered to us, but one thing is for sure, the performance will enhance. Expect a decent speed for touring as the fuel tank supported is larger than we thought.
Based on the performance of Duke 390, the adventure one promises to offer the best class top performance for long distance touring. We would never want to compromise on our trip and want it to be hassle-free. With this, we can feel free and trust the process of the new bike. If prototype spotted in Public is something to trust on it, we can expect 2 variant of the adventure tourer motorcycle to be out.
One will have spoke wheels covered fully by knobs for a more off-road version, while, the other variant will be well equipped with alloy wheels and milder dual-purpose tires. This is assumed as the one spotted in India was with alloy wheels, while the previous prototype was running on spoke wheels. Also, few motorcycles were running on alloy wheel that was present only at the rear.
The front end of the bike gets a LED headlight similar to the KTM 390 Duke. Apart from this adventure models gets a taller windshield, a taller seat height, fuel tank is bulky and large that has the capacity to hold more fuel for good long tour performance, also mated with a 6-speed gearbox and ABS as standard.
The footpegs here are spotted slightly ahead as compared to the one we see in Duke and the exhaust end-can is completely different. All together the seating is taller and gets a more comfortable riding position for long hours riding on Off-road. The spy images of the bikes show that the bike will come with standard engine guards. Overall the design does vary from the Duke and gets pretty better.
It is highly possible that the bike will run on 19 inches of the front wheel with 17 inches of rear alloy wheels. This means it has tubeless tires & the tires seem to be off-road friendly ones. Moving on with the fork, the prototype image seen indicates that it has a greater suspension travel power. The switchgear, as well as the TFT display, is seen on the Duke, can be developed on this bike. Your bigger rides get better with a bigger motorcycle like KTM 390 Adventure.
Price and Expected Launch
When can we expect this bike& will it be affordable? Probably, these 2 top questions running in every reader mind right now. Well, if rumors are to be heard, The KTM 390 Adventure is certainly to be launched in 2019 & is estimated to be priced for around 2.6-2.75. We can consider it to be the most affordable touring motorcycle in its segment. No doubt, the bike is said to be a value for money model. It is suited for touring and set to be a slight off-roader.
Giving verdict on rivalries, for now, can be pretty confusing as there is still a lot of information on the overall performance, mileage & power to be revealed about the bike. But based on the pricing, engine & touring capacity, it may give a tough call to Kawasaki Versys-X 300 and BMW G 310 GS.
Well, the rendered information we’ve shared is all out of the spy shot seen of the bike. There can be few modifications on the bike until it is actually launched in India. For this, you need to stay tuned for the official to make a final word on this. Let’s see how the thing goes until then share your views, comment, and opinion on this bike and do you find it worth buying? & Are you excited as well for the launch?
