KTM analyzed and came to some solid conclusion that they did not have quite a sufficient amount of middleweight segment motorcycles. And for the very reason, the single cylinder bike 690 Duke has now got accompanied by the All-New KTM 790 Duke.  The size of the bike looks quite compact that on the first look, the rider would get fooled of considering it as a 400cc motorcycle while this one is almost around 800cc one.  The bike was seen on the Indian roads obviously for testing it on the roads and so it is confirmed that the bike is going to launch in April 2019. Only select KTM dealers have started accepting the bookings of the upcoming  Duke 790 in India. While talking about the capabilities this bike will hold, the company has claimed for this one to be the strongest and most powerful motorcycle to be sold in India.

KTM dealerships across the country have started accepting the booking of the new 790 Duke which is a street fighter with a token of about Rs 30,000. The company initially launched the most affordable motorcycle which was the 125 between Rs 7.5 lakh and Rs 8 lakhDuke so as to pacify the demands of the customer who were looking for affordable performance based bikes. Soon after they introduced the affordable Duke segment to us, they came up with the better middleweight segment motorcycle streetfighter concept with the 790 Duke. Though there are no official details revealed to us yet about the launching of the new flagship in our country, but we can expect it anytime soon. The new KTM is sure to add some thrill & fire to the stability seen in KTM India for a while now.

The 799cc twin cylinder engine projected in this motorcycle is capable to generate a maximum power of 105HP at just 9000 rpm and the torque is delivered of around 86 Nm at 8000 rpm. This engine comes mated with a 6-speed gearbox. Overall the motorcycle is able to boost up exceptionally amazing power with fine class performance torque.

The engine is lightweight and is able to generate an efficient outcome. Also gets a liquid cooled, 8 valve DOHC unit. With that, the rider gets an advanced ride by wire system that helps to minimize fuel consumption & produce great refinements and low emission. With the all-new super engine, you won’t be getting the unpleasant vibes while you ride, as the motorcycle will be able to run smoothly.



The TFT display seen on the 390 Duke will be seen on the 790 Duke with this the rider will get varied options of controlling the setting easily including the Bluetooth connectivity with the smartphones.

The bike comes armed with electronic aids like dual channel ABS with Supermoto mode, slipper clutch, Motor Slip Regulation as well as quick shift indicators, the engine management is controlled well with the various riding modes option available in the new model. This model gets twin 300mm front discs along with four-piston radial mounted calipers, the rear gets a single 240 mm disc gripped by 2-piston caliper. The front end features 43 mm USDs and rear features a monoshock.

In additions to the feature loaded offerings with this bike that we’ve mentioned above, there are other amazing features like traction control, anti-wheelie control, launch control, throttle response control and much more. It also gets WP suspension at both ends

While considering the weight of the motorcycle, it will get a dry weight off with a dry weight of just 169 kgs. You can expect a smooth and satisfactory performance from this KTM. On average, this bike will be able to generate a mileage of 22.72 kmpl. Based on the engine & the gearbox, the bike is expected to deliver a top speed of 220kmph.


Once it is launched, the 790 Duke will be against Ducati Monster 821, Kawasaki Z900, Triumph Street Triple RS, MV Agusta Brutale 800 and Suzuki GSX-S750. The difference that you will experience in Duke 790 with a comparison to the 390 Duke is its power for an obvious reason, larger dimension, different wheels control, tail section as well as exhaust.

This KTM Duke is expected to be priced in an affordable range with the best performance. It will be priced between 7.5 to 8 Lakhs in India. With the best features as well as great pricing, the motorcycle is expected to stand out from the competition.  We are still not very much sure about the pricing and the claimed pricing here is just an expectation based on the other models pricing of the KTM.

The Bajaj owned Austrian company set to launch this amazing model in the Indian market anytime soon.
