Talking about the first most important point which is the power plant, The new Triumph Speed Twin is powered by the Thruxton R-sourced 1200 cc ‘high power’ 8-valve, liquid-cooled SOHC parallel-twin engine, the engine churns out 96 bhp at 6,750 rpm & a peak torque of 112 Nm at 4,950 rpm while being mated to a 6-speed gearbox.
The Speed Twin is lighter than the Thruxton R as the cam cover is made from magnesium and revisions are done to the clutch assembly with lighter engine cover making the motorcycle weigh a dry weight of just 196kgs. So you see you get amazing performance and great engine powered motorcycle exactly like the Thruxton R but in affordable pricing. This is one reason why we would love to buy this beauty.
The model is feature loaded, there are too many features that shape together in making this bike a perfect model for riders. Few features like a flat single piece seat, signature 14ltr tank, twin-pod instrument console with that you get premium brushed aluminum front and rear mudguard, bar-end mirrors, two small digital LCD screens offering multiple information like trip meters, odometers, riding mode and clock.
Further, the LED daytime running lamp along with LED rear lamp and LED indicator. These are a few features that make the styling of the bike highly eye watching. Moving on the technical part of the motorcycle, it consists of a ride-by-wire system, three riding modes, and torque assist clutch, USB charging socket, ABS & switchable traction control.
Focusing on the suspension and the braking duties handle by the bikes. The motorcycle gets 807mm seat height with comfortable riding position. The suspension duties are taken care of by 41mm cartridge forks towards the front and twin-shocks with adjustable preload for the rear. The brakes are in control with dual 305mm discs, and Brembo four-piston fixed calipers at the front and twin Nissin calipers and 220mm discs for the rear. For the wheels, it comes in 17-inch, Lightweight 7-spoke aluminum wheels.
