Introduction of TVS Radeon

TVS Radeon is an entry-level commuter bike from the stable of India’s third-largest bike maker TVS Motor Company. The motorcycle looks a lot similar to Hero Splendor and is quite popular among executive commuters.

The commuter got launched in August 2018, and since then, it has silently grabbed a lot of attention. It faired exceptionally well in the 110cc commuter segment and garnered love and admiration from customers and experts.

In 2018-19, the bike received many accolades and became the most awarded bike of the year. Commemorating the success, the company in September 2019 launched TVS Radeon Special Edition in the domestic market. The ‘Commuter of the Year’ edition also features a disc brake.

In 2020, TVS rolled out the BS-VI version of Radeon, which comes equipped with a BS6-compliant engine that is more fuel-efficient, gives better performance and lasts longer than its BS-IV predecessor.

In September, the motorbike crossed its 3 lakh sales milestone and received two new colour options.

The bike is now available in three variants and ten colour options. Its ex-showroom price in Mumbai starts from Rs. 64,532 and goes up to Rs. 70,532.

Highlights of TVS Radeon

Specification of TVS Radeon

Powering TVS Radeon is a 110cc single-cylinder air-cooled fuel-injected engine mated to a four-speed gearbox that churns out a peak power of 8.08bhp @ 7,350 rpm and a maximum torque of 8.7Nm @ 4,500 rpm.

While the power output in the TVS Radeon BS6 has decreased by 0.21PS, the maximum torque has remained unchanged. It arrives 500 rpm earlier.

The commuter bike sprints from 0-60 Kmph in about 8.4 seconds and can achieve a top speed of 95 Kmph.

The company claims the ARAI-tested fuel efficiency is 75-77 Kmpl, but the actual mileage of TVS Radeon is 69.3 Kmpl.

The inclusion of the fuel injection technology has enhanced the mileage by 15 per cent. Its 10-litre fuel tank capacity enables it to travel around 670-693 km on a full tank.

The bike gets built on a single-cradle tubular frame linked to a pair of telescopic oil damped forks at the front and five-step adjustable hydraulic shockers at the rear.

The braking duties are performed by drum brakes at both front and back (but only the celebratory special edition gets a disc brake at the front) and assisted by TVS’ Synchronized Braking Technology.

Design of TVS Radeon

The bike features a rectangular halogen headlamp, which also has LED daytime running lights for better visibility.

The bike gets ample chrome fittings, which borders around the headlight in a rectangular shape. Above it sits the TVS logo in chrome.

A pair of side indicator lights get attached between the headlamp and a pair of rearview mirrors.

The bike features an analogue instrument cluster with a speedometer, odometer, and fuel gauge—the handles get equipped with switches for the headlight, taillight, side indicators and more.

The 10-litre fuel tank slopes towards the seat, which is flat and long and has a rear grab rail-cum-carrier at its end. Just below it, the bike gets fitted with a tail lamp and indicator lights.

The chrome exhaust gives the bike a retro look. Running the bike is a pair of 18″ blacked-out alloy wheels that look contrastingly modern compared to the bike’s overall styling.

The bike incorporates a seat height of 780 mm, making it accessible to a wide range of riders of varying sizes. The footrests and rear footpegs keep the feet of both the rider and the pillion.

The bike is 1,080mm tall, 705mm wide, and 2,025mm long. It has a wheelbase of 1,265mm and a ground clearance of 180mm. Handling the bike is quite effortless, and it steers and stabilises efficiently in all traffic conditions.

Blacked-out alloy wheels: The motorcycle features all blacked-out 18-inch alloy wheels, making the bike a modern and sporty look.
