The Japanese company Yamaha launched its R6 sport bike in 1999, and the supersport bike has been updated several times since its launch. Yamaha YZF R6 is one of the market’s most compact and powerful sports bikes and is one of the selling sports bikes and agile two-wheelers ever. Due to multiple issues in YZF R6 between 2001 to 2008, the bike got frequent updates, and the last update took place in 2017. The new YZF R6 is gaining good traction among enthusiast bike lovers.

The engine of the Yamaha YZF R6 is remarkable due to its efficiency. The bike is under the 600cc category and features a 599cc, DOHC, BS6 liquid-cooled engine with four cylinders and 16 titanium valves. It is a compact but powerful engine that delivers 6-speed transmission.
The oversquare engine features a 67.0 bore and 42.5 mm stroke. Hence, it’s an efficient engine generating a maximum torque of 61.7 Nm@10,500 rpm and 14,500 118.4bhp power @ 14,500 rpm.
The agile and aggressive designed sport two-wheeler is not backward in features. The bike prefers digital meters with a compact, easy handling feature, and it contains a 17-litre fuel tank with 7.0L/100km fuel economy.
The 260 km/h top-speeded bike features switchable traction control with a digital speedometer, trip meter, odometer, clock, and fuel gauge. But the tachometer is in analogue form and includes an electric starter. Alongside, the bike is light weighted and has super comfortable riding with accessible handling features.

The Kawasaki Ninja-6R engine is far more efficient than the Yamaha YZF R6. The 636cc engine produces 130hp@13,500rpm and a maximum torque of 70.8 Nm@11,000rpm. Oppositely, Yamaha YZF R6’s 599cc engine generates 116hp@14,500rpm horsepower with a maximum torque of 61.7 Nm@10,500.
The analysis defines that the Kawasaki Ninja-6R performs better in speed and carrying weight. Moreover, the Kawasaki Ninja-6R (196 kg)is relatively heavier than Yamaha YZF R6(190 kg).
The Honda CBR600RR is available at 12 lakhs. But Yamaha’s expected price is 15 lakhs. These two bikes have similar features and performances with a 599cc engine with a 4-cylinder.
Though, Yamaha YZF R6 produces a maximum torque of 61.7 Nm@10,500. On the other hand, Honda CBR600RR generates a maximum torque of 64Nm@11,500.
Yamaha YZF R6 comes with a 17-litre fuel tank and provides 15.15 km/h mileage. But Honda CBR600RR delivers 15.17 km/h mileage with an 18-litre fuel tank.
There is also a 5 mm ground clearance difference between both bikes, and Yamaha YZF R6 comes with a 130 mm ground clearance, and Honda CBR600RR acquires a 125 mm ground clearance.
Both the bikes have nearly the same price, around Rs 15 lakhs.
Suzuki GSX-R600 is a lightweight sport bike weighing 187 kg, but Yamaha YZF R6 weighs 190 kg.
